What to Wear

Do’s

- Mix and match your colors. If more than one person: consider choosing a base pattern and pulling different colors from that one pattern

- Mix and match your textures. Jeans/silk/cotton/leather, etc. Mixing textures creates more texture and makes your photos stand out!

- Keep it simple and personalized. Wear things that you like and wear often. If you don’t like wearing something, it’ll show in your photos.

- Wear proper fitting clothes.

- Take all tags and stickers off clothing

- Iron your clothes

- If you’re wearing a fabric that easily attracts lint, make sure to lint roll your clothing ahead of time. Even the tiniest hairs or lint will often show on the photos. But don’t worry, I’ve got a lint roller on set and will take care of ya!

Don’t’s

- Match. I want each individuals personality to shine through their outfits!

- Mix multiple patterns. Unless you normally mix patterns, this usually is not a good idea. Mixing patters overwhelms the photos and causes things to look chaotic. Mixing very subtle patterns can work, but be careful about mixing bold patterns.

- Try something new. Unless you get your photos taken often, this is not the time to try a brand new style. Keep things simple. Wear something you know you look and feel good in!

Tips

- Do things that feel like you! Bringing items that you love or going to get your favorite coffee before is a great way to personalize your session and feel more yourself.

- Wear your outfit before the day of your shoot. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s so important! The more comfortable you are, the better the photos will be.

- Plan a backup outfit. Nothing is worse than spilling coffee on the way to your shoot and/or sweating through your clothes mid session. It’s always smart to have a backup outfit just in case!

Pamper Yourself

Skincare

  • Moisturize your skin

  • Drink your water! Hydrated skin is happy skin

  • Take care of your nails. Get them done or do them yourself. At minimum, trim your nails and moisturize your hands to prevent dry/cracked cuticles

  • I do NOT recommend getting a spray tan as they take time to wear in. If you plan in advance a spray tan is okay 2 weeks prior to your session.

Hair and makeup

  • Splurge on a hair and makeup artist. I highly recommend this for headshots. I offer an add on for $175.

  • If you have facial hair, make sure to get any shaving done the day before or the morning of your session.

  • If you choose to do hair and makeup yourself, please have it all finished upon arrival.

Bring any spare outfits, props and accessories you might want to shoot in, hair and makeup touchup supplies, and anything else you want to bring to make your session a success!

Will you help me with posing?

Definitely! I don’t expect you to be a model, but even if you are, I will pose and direct you the entire time. I am always open to suggestions and ideas, so we can collaborate to create some incredible images

When will i get to see my images?

You will get your proofs on the day of your session. If you have a full session, you’ll be treated to a viewing and purchasing session the day of your shoot. Come prepared to select your images and place your order.

All images that you purchase will be fully edited and retouched so you can be confident that the image will be the best quality possible

Yes - I suggest bringing a couple of bottles of water and some snacks just in case you need some refreshments if we’re on location. If we’re in studio, I’ve got you. I’ll have Nespresso, tea, bottled water, and diet soda on hand typically. Let us know if you have a favorite treat or drink!
