What makes you feel empowered in your identity?
I am a queer, gender-fluid, transmasc individual and being able to say that right here, right now, makes me feel empowered. Every single moment I express myself as I truly am, I feel fantastic. Fashion has been a huge part of empowerment and expression for me and a large part of my journey as well. I love being able to feel comfortable in my clothes. More than that, I am enamored with the fact that I feel confident, attractive, and myself.
What does your 2SLGBTQ+ identity mean to you?
I'm a firm believer that the meaning of identity changes as we grow and change ourselves. My identity as a queer individual has evolved so much over the past several years and therefore, so has what meaning I glean from it. In my own eyes, my gender is like a stained glass window. It can't be defined and it's beautiful. Right now, my identity means that I am free. I am a product of my own essence and no one else's.
What is one (or more) of your favorite things about yourself?
I love my passion for life. I love my passion for others. I have always been and will continue to be a person who doesn't give up. I try to contribute something positive to the world and I think that's important.
What is your favorite part about the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Oklahoma? What would you like to see more of?
Honestly, I'm not very involved with the community in an organized way. I didn't know that I was queer until I was about 18 or 19 and by then I was a busy college student! And I haven't stopped being one since, haha! My community in Oklahoma is my own group of queer friends. My favorite part about my community is how we lift each other up. There's always room for exploration, feelings, and learning in my circle. That's priceless in my eyes. I would love to be more involved with the queer community in Oklahoma and I'm eagerly awaiting an opportunity!
